For the past year I have been working with Priority Energy to get my house more energy efficient. Priority did an energy audit with an infrared camera to see where the trouble spots were, analyzed heating/cooling capacity and came up with several recommendations to improve efficiency. The final step in my little project was to get the duct work "sealed" with a polymer to plug various gaps in the ducts inside the walls. Since many of us share the same builder, I thought I would share the results. By injecting an aerosol polymer, they were able to reduce the leaks by 86% for one furnace and 83% for the other. Their models suggest this should result in 34% and 27% improvement in heating/cooling capacity. Beside the results, I would say that Priority Energy was one of the most customer-focused contractors I have ever worked with. Besides the comprehensive audit report (including an ROI analysis), he has followed up with several very detailed emails/suggestions regarding what the issues were and possible fixes. If you are curious about the efficiency of your house, or areas to fix that will give you the most bang for the buck, I would certainly recommending calling Priority Energy.

I'm happy with this report. • The main point wasn't to catch a safety issue, but a CO gas issue was flagged. In the big picture, this is good. Thousands die from this gas. A CDC reference on that was looked up after the report, here-- http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm5650a1.htm I'm pretty sure we wouldn't want anything unfortunate along these lines for us, any guest staying over, someone we sold the unit to, or our neighbors. • Kurt was professional, as were the report contents. I'll paste what I forwarded to the other unit owners at the end of this message. My e-mail didn't heap enough praise on Kurt and the report, but keep in mind I was already running behind in getting back to work from lunch--this was good work, and there was some heaping. Human activity isn't error-free, but if this type of due diligence can't lead to executing better choices, then I'm not sure what will. I don't think there had been much serious discussion among unit owners of what turned out to be a reasonable-seeming number one recommendation. Time will tell if the condo unit owners prioritize this, but without the report, this would not be considered. o The approach taken to model the whole building as well as could be done was deeply appreciated. o I'll convey to other unit owners that what may be a winter opportunity to specifically locate for their units what will be remaining infiltration points (for this building) post-windows work, assuming that goes forward, and possibly post-'other work', with their own audits, if comfort and energy use issues remain that they would be concerned about. o Thanks for the treatment of the parochial interest here, the solar thermal. I must thank you for the patience shown, and the reasonable contextualizing of the DHW opportunity examined. • There's always opportunity to do more. I'm happy with the value of the report. I'll keep you posted if for some reason there would be remarkable positive surprises from the other unit owners as decisions play out, through the end of the year, and, to the extent we are involved, through the future beyond, the future that will eventually be here.

My wife and I were very pleased with the personal professionalism and detailed report provided by Rob and his staff at Priority Energy. The energy audit and follow up report showed us exactly where we were wasting energy and losing money, and steps that could be taken to fix the problems. Rob even noticed some issues in our home outside of his normal scope of work that needed rectifying. We certainly will be heeding his recommendations to help us save money going forward. We were very satisfied with all the help that Priority Energy provided! Our audit was very thorough, and everything was explained to us as they went though. We were also very happy with all that we received for the price. So far, we have gone with their recommendations for new insulation, changes to our heating and cooling, and will take much of their advice for an upcoming renovation of our basement. Priority Engergy is awesome! They really know their stuff and not only did they do an exhaustive analysis of our home, but they also were very detailed and diligent aobut explaining every last piece of information to me. I can't recommend them highly enough!
